This course is designed to offer students an experiential survey of introductory topics in music therapy, including the definition, scope, and history of the discipline, and populations served and corresponding interventions. Students will observe professionals in the field in a variety of settings and with different patient populations, as well as participate in mock music therapy interventions to gain a personal understanding of the client’s experience of therapy. Additionally, students will explore the relationship between artistic expression and personal development, self-awareness, and health.
